Frequently asked questions
ARS offers a proactive and engaged approach. Our systems are pre-rigged, tested, and allow for immediate adjustments as the job scope evolves. We support workers beyond just rescue, understanding the work scope from a heavy construction perspective. Our team provides full support for safe and efficient execution, including rigging systems for work tasks, managing the space, and making quick adjustments. We build relationships with the team, participating in pre-job meetings and engaging with workers on-site. In contrast, other 3rd parties are often reactive, with limited systems and backgrounds that may not fully support the work crew.
A Contractor "self" rescue (contractor has basic equipment like a tripod an a retrieval system) does work for simple up and down solutions, such as a quick in and down of a man hole or simple work where setting up a basic system over a hole doesn't require a lot of knowledge or training.
However, a trade electrician or painter doesn't practice rescue and rope safety daily. They are good at their trade as ARS is good at ropes.
A 3rd party provides a focused approach to the task and will be skilled in supporting the work, thus rigging the systems correctly (correct equipment, knots, and know the system will work), providing adaptable access solutions, and meeting rescue compliance requirements of the project, OSHA and company.
Additionally, your team can work faster, safer, and not be responsible for additional task they have limited or no training for.
With a qualified 3rd party safety is greatly increased, rescue and access safety is managed by qualified technicians, work productivity is increased.
If you enter into permit required confined spaces (man holes, pipes, tanks, vaults) or work at high risk elevated locations, ARS Rescue and Access Systems is right for you.
With our systems,
1. We greatly increase safety
2. Help speed up the work process with effective rigging systems and proactively adapting to the job scope requirements
3. Reduce and/or eliminate the need for cranes, manlifts, scaffolding and ladders with our rope access systems.
4. Save up to 15-30% job cost.
The OSHA requirement is: Rescue team size is based on the ability to perform the rescue safety.
Most clients such as power companies require a minimum of 3 technicians:
hole watch/ edge man, entry supervisor, rescue tech.
Some simple scopes can require only 1-2 rescuers if certain site conditions and safety requirements are met such as:
Low hazards: (no hazardous gas or live electrical)
Non- entry rescue only , always be connected, and job scope is simple
New Construction/ specifically controlled maintenance
Medium to high hazard scopes, multiple entrants, and hot work require : 2-4 rescuers.
ARS team will be able to help determine the correct team size with a scope consultation.
