Preparing Technicians for SPRAT Evaluation
SPRAT certification is the recognized rope access credential for technicians working in industrial, construction and infrastructure environments across the U.S. It is administered by the Society of Professional Rope Access Technicians, and evaluations are carried out by independent SPRAT evaluators.
ARS provides hands-on SPRAT certification training and preparation as part of its wider technical training programs. Training focuses on the skills evaluated at each level, practiced on real equipment with rescue built into every system.
SPRAT Level I, Level II and Level III
Level I
Rope Access Technician
Entry level. No prior rope access hours are required. A Level I technician performs rope access work under the supervision of a Level III and must be able to carry out basic maneuvers, equipment checks and a simple rescue.
Level II
Lead Technician
Requires logged rope access experience at Level I, set by SPRAT as a minimum of 500 hours over at least six months. Level II technicians rig working systems, perform rescues and take on more complex maneuvers under Level III oversight.
Level III
Supervisor
Requires the same minimum logged experience at Level II. A Level III is responsible for the rope access work site, system and anchor approval, technician supervision and the rescue plan.

Individual Technicians and Company Crews
SPRAT training is relevant to people entering rope access for the first time, technicians logging hours toward Level II or Level III, and employers who need certified crews for elevated, suspended or difficult-access work.
For organizations, ARS can shape training around the team, equipment and work environment, including crews who also need confined space rescue capability alongside rope access.
